Man City face regulator warning over ownership

Daily Brief · 10/21/2026

Manchester City's off-field troubles dominate the day, while the Champions League brings a busy night of results and a trip to Como for Manchester United.

Top story: Premier League regulator says he has power to remove City's owners

Manchester City's owners have been warned they could be forced to sell the club. David Kogan, head of the new independent football regulator, has confirmed he holds absolute power to remove them.

The warning follows an independent commission's ruling that City were guilty on 114 of the 115 Premier League financial charges. The club has lodged an appeal against the decision.

The regulator's chief has not ruled out a second investigation into the club, while Gary Neville has pushed for what he calls the only fair punishment.
