Top story: Aston Villa withdraw legal threat against Jamie Carragher

Aston Villa have dropped their threat of legal action against Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher after he apologised for telling Villa supporters to "shut the f*** up".

On Friday the club had published a statement on its channels, carrying the name of co-owner Nassef Sawiris, vowing to begin legal proceedings against the former Liverpool defender.

The row began after Carragher suggested that Villa manager Unai Emery should consider taking the Manchester United job. Villa have now decided not to pursue the matter following his apology.
